Global mobile maker Nokia has proudly announced yet another feature phone named Nokia 515 to enhance its portfolio in
this base. The new phone will be able in both single and dual SIM variants, and
it is likely to target mid-level buyers across the world.
The body of Nokia 515 is made of a single piece of anodized
and sandblasted aluminum, and its super cool display is having Gorilla Glass 2
to offer scratch resistant option. It is fully optimized to use under the sun.
This new feature phone
offers 2.4-inch QVGA display screen that can easily produce resolution support
of 240*320 pixels with a modest pixel density of 166ppi. It runs on Nokia's
well-popular Series 40 (S-40) software. It weighs only 101.1grams for single
SIM variant and 102.7 grams for dual-SIM while measuring only 114x48x11mm.
The Nokia 515 carries 64MB
of RAM and 256MB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB with the
help of a microSD card for further use. The main feature that is giving it an
upper edge from the other phone of its range is its super cool camera. It is
offering a 5-megapixel rear shooter (LED flash), and the camera has all the
advanced options like voice-guided self-portrait, Panorama and Sequential shots.
It has to be mentioned here that voice-guided self-portrait helps a user to
take self-images even with the rear camera.
This new smartphone has almost all the modern connectivity
options like GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Micro-USB and Bluetooth. However, it doesn’t offer
Wi-Fi, which is quite disheartening for sure. It is worth mentioning here that
the new Nokia 515 feature phone only supports Micro-SIM instead of regular SIM.
The device is coming up with some useful pre-loaded apps
such as Facebook, Twitter,
Mail for Exchange, Nimbuzz etc. These apps will certainly help the users to
stay connected with their social media, check
their important business emails and synchronize their contacts and calendars
with super ease.
Nokia phones have a reputation of having solid batter
backup, and in this case the newly-launch phone sports a 1200mAh battery. As
per company’s claim the battery can easily deliver standby time of up to 528
hours and talk time of almost 10 hours.
Availability and
Expected Price
The Finland-based company will start retailing the Nokia
515 in the third quarter of this year, and the shipping is likely to start with
the high potential markets like Russia, Poland, Switzerland and Germany.
The expected retail price of this phone will be around $149 (or 115 EUR) before subsidies and
taxes.

Final Thoughts
The Nokia 515
will likely to do good businesses all over the world as it is boasting some
serious features and that too in an affordable price range. However, the
present scenario is indicating that in India the company will only launch the
dual-SIM variant. Nokia has already listed it in its official Indian site,
but the listing is not providing any details on availability or possible
pricing of the phone in the country.
I think feature phones are still very relevant and needed, for example my mum and some of her age group don't like the touch-only smartphone and i think this new Nokia 515 will do good in the market
