Sony has recently been unveiling quite a few Android smartphones from its popular Xperia series line-up, and
the latest addition to that list is the new Sony Xperia M, which has now been listed online with a price tag of
Rs. 12,990
in India.
The best part is Sony has
started to provide special priority to the emerging Indian market. It is
launching not only high-end phones like Xperia Z Ultra
for potential customers but also budget Android smartphones
like the latest avatar Xperia M.
The new entry has not yet been launched officially by the
company, but leading online retailer Saholic has listed it on its website for
Rs. 12,990. The retailer has even tweeted that the mobile will be available
from August 23 to the interested buyers.
The Sony Xperia M is
supported by 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8227 processor while having
the RAM capacity of mere 1GB. It sports an awesome 4-inch long TFT LCD display
that can offer resolution of 480*854 pixels. The screen is scratch-resistant
too, which is one of the best features of this device.
The phone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Operating System,
which has been coupled with Sony's own Timescape UI on top. It is having 4GB of
internal memory which can be further expanded up to 32GB with the help of a
microSD card. It features a 5-megapixel rear camera (LED flash enabled) and a VGA
front facing camera for video calling and more. The advanced connectivity
options are also available in this Android phone
like 3G, Bluetooth, aGPS, Wi-Fi and NFC.
The Xperia M is backed up
with a decent 1,750mAh battery, which can easily deliver talk time period of 10
hours and standby time of huge 504 hours, as per the company’s claim. The listing
is clearly stating that the upcoming smartphone will be launched in four
different colour variants- Purple, White, Lime and Black.
It has to be added here
that Sony announced the Xperia M and its dual SIM version Sony Xperia M dual
together in June 2013. The company even declared that both the smartphones will
be rolling out from the third quarter of 2013, and as the things are happening
it looks like that it is keeping it promises.

Final Words
Sony
Xperia M is a good addition to the Indian market in the mid-range Android phone base. I have
added all the key specifications and price of this phone here, and I hope it’ll
certainly help you to decide whether to go for it or not.
It is having a super-fast
processor, decent memory, modest battery back-up and solid rear camera. Though
its front camera is a VGA one, and many other companies are providing better
front camera with much lesser prices. Let’s see how will it perform in the
market in the days to come?
